Ray chose “Selah” as the name for his ministry because it is a multi-faceted word. Selah is sometimes used in Scripture as a direct instruction to musicians to worship the Lord in a specific manner. Other times, Selah is used to imply a spontaneous pause and time for meditation on the incomprehensible power, love, grace, mercy and majesty of God. The instruction most often provides a place to musically interpret, with sound or silence, what has just been spoken or what is happening in the Spirit.
Like many things in the scriptures that have multiple meanings, Selah calls us to study the deeper spiritual mysteries and purposes God intended for music and worship as well as the way that we relate to and interact with God through praise.
